Gaby Cavins
President + Executive director
Gaby Cavins is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Navy veteran, mother of 3, and Navy spouse. Her passion for birth and feeding in the military began with the traumatic birth and lactation challenges of her first son. Gaby saw the need for advocacy and education around the prenatal and postpartum periods for service members and their families, and spent her time writing, consulting, and mentoring to actively make change. She has been involved with various non-profits in the birth and feeding space, and has served on the Chair of the California Breastfeeding Coalition. She comes to us with amazing passion for and experience in policy and advocacy, and we are so thrilled to have her onboard.
Rachel Luttrell
Communications director
Rachel Luttrell is a Certified Labor Doula, Certified Lactation Counselor, prenatal yoga instructor, and maternal health advocate based in Okinawa, Japan. She is a former Army Public Affairs Officer and separated in 2024 after 9 years of service. Rachel brings an evidence-based and advocacy-forward approach to supporting families on their journey to parenthood. She’s an Air Force spouse who loves exploring the island and traveling with her family, and is expecting her second child in the fall of 2026.
Anni Denzel
podcast director + Host of Military Birth Talk
Anni is a mom, spouse of an Active Duty Marine, and an avid birth nerd. She got hooked on listening to birth stories while pregnant for the first time-- what began as a pregnancy filled with fear and apprehension became one of excitement and motivation, after learning (through birth stories!) about all the ways that birth can be an empowering and transformative experience. Since then, she's seen the many ways that the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience is uniquely challenging for the military community. In addition to this podcast, Anni works as Director of Development at Lead Liberated, an educational nonprofit based in Oakland, CA. Outside of family life, work, and podcasting, you can find her volunteering with the USMC PCS Advocacy Council, arranging music for her college a cappella group, doing a crossword puzzle, or out exploring Japan, where she currently lives with her husband, daughter, and two dogs.
